The  Board of the Morgan Grenfell Latin American Companies Trust PLC announces
that  the  Company has yesterday, 16 February 2000, purchased for cancellation
188,500 ordinary shares in the Company at a price of 87.0p per share.

Following this purchase there are now 60,987,550 ordinary shares in issue.
