The Board of the Morgan Grenfell Latin American Companies Trust PLC announces 
that the Company has on Monday, 21 February 2000, purchased for cancellation 
250,000 ordinary shares in the Company at a price of 85.0p per share.

Following  this  purchase  there are now  60,626,050 ordinary shares in issue.
