Aberdeen Asset Management PLC announces in conformity with the Transparency
Directive's transitional provision 6 we would like to notify the market of the
following:


New India Investment Trust Plc consists of 47,839,850 ordinary 25p shares with
voting rights.  New India  holds nil ordinary shares in Treasury.

Therefore, the total number of voting rights in New India is 47,839,850.

The above figure (47,839,850) may be used by shareholders as the denominator for
the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify
their interest in, or a change to their interest in, New India under the FSA's
Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
