                              Board Appointments


API Group plc announces the appointment of David Hudd as Non-executive
Chairman succeeding Moger Woolley who is retiring.  API Group plc also
announces the appointment of Richard Wright as a Non-executive Director.  Both
appointments take effect from today.

David Hudd (56) has been a Non-executive Director of API since July 1998. He
is a chartered accountant, is Non-executive Chairman of Forest Garden
(Holdings) Limited and has previously been Chairman/Chief Executive of a
number of quoted companies, including Vardon plc. David succeeds Moger Woolley
(66) who has been Chairman since 1992 and who, to ensure an orderly handover,
will remain a Non-executive Director until the next Annual General Meeting in
February 2002, when he will retire from the Board.

Richard Wright (56) has wide international experience, having been in senior
executive roles with the Ford Motor Company since 1989 including Director,
Sales.  Prior to joining Ford he was with Jaguar Cars, International Harvester
and JCB.


Commenting on the Board changes Moger Woolley said:


'Having served as Chairman for almost 10 years, it is appropriate to be
handing over to a new Chairman. In David, we have someone who knows the
Company well and who will provide stability in a period of significant change
for the Group. Richard has strong international credentials which we expect to
be of great benefit to the Group.'
