                  APPOINTMENT OF A NEW NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

API Group plc, the specialist packaging company, announced today the appointment
of Luke Wiseman as a Non-executive Director with immediate effect. Mr Wiseman is
responsible for European research at Steel Partners (UK) Limited. Steel Partners
II, LP, a private investment partnership, has a beneficial interest in 29.5% of
the shares in API.

Commenting on the appointment, Richard Wright, the Non-executive Chairman of
API, said:

'We have been in discussion for some time with Steel Partners regarding the
alternative ways in which it could support the Board's plans for further
developing and expanding the Group's core activities. We believe that the
appointment of a shareholder representative to the Board will facilitate this
process and is appropriate given the particular circumstances of the Group. We
welcome Luke's appointment as a Non-executive Director and are confident that he
will make a positive contribution as we pursue our aim of growing long term
value for all shareholders.'

Mr Wiseman is a Non-executive Director of Nettec plc. There is no further
information which is required to be disclosed under paragraph 9.6.13 of the
Listing Rules.
