Confirmation of the cancellation of the entire share premium account and capital redemption reserve

In the annual reports and accounts of Standard Life UK Smaller Companies Trust PLC (the "Company") for the period ending 30 June 2009, the Directors stated their intention to apply to the Court of Session for the approval of the cancellation of the entire share premium and of the capital redemption reserve of the Company (the "Cancellation").

The Directors are pleased to announce that the Court of Session has confirmed the Cancellation and the creation of a special capital reserve, in the amount of approximately  £25,620,000. The reserve is now available to be used in any manner in which the Company's profits available for distribution may be applied, including the funding of tender offers and share buy backs.
