Final Conversion of the Continuation Shares 

The Board of Standard Life UK Smaller Companies Trust plc is pleased to announce that the realignment process has progressed to such an extent that the final conversion date of the Continuation 75p shares issued to former shareholders of Gartmore Smaller Companies Trust p.l.c. will take place on 31 May 2009. This is some eight months ahead of the final conversion date indicated in the shareholder circular dated 23 December 2008. Following the final conversion date the Company's capital structure will comprise only Ordinary 25p shares.

A further announcement in relation to the conversion value will be made in due course.
