STANDARD LIFE UK SMALLER COMPANIES TRUST PLC

Issue of equity

The Board of Standard Life UK Smaller Companies Trust PLC (the "Company") announces that on 8 April 2013, 11,404 new Ordinary 25p Shares were issued following elections by holders of the Company's 3.5% Convertible Unsecured Loan Stock 2018 ("CULS") to convert GBP 27,073 nominal of CULS. The Ordinary Shares will rank pari passu with the existing Ordinary Shares.

The new Ordinary shares were issued under the Company's Ordinary share block listing facility.

Following this issue of shares, the total number of Ordinary Shares in issue is 66,665,988 with each ordinary share holding one voting right.  There is also GBP 24,896,887 nominal of CULS in issue.
