                  STANDARD LIFE UK SMALLER COMPANIES TRUST PLC



On 20 December 2007, Standard Life UK Smaller Companies Trust PLC bought back
175,000 of its ordinary 25 pence shares for cancellation at an average price of
100.6571 pence per share.  Following the buy back, there are 32,408,790 ordinary
25 pence shares remaining in issue.  The share buy-back will be financed out of
the capital reserve.
