Please note the issued ordinary share capital share including treasury shares,
announced as '32,583,790', has been amended to '32,596,760' and the number of
ordinary shares held in treasury, announced as '202,030', has been amended to '
215,000'.

STANDARD LIFE UK SMALLER COMPANIES TRUST PLC - SHARE BUY-BACK



On 23 January 2008, Standard Life UK Smaller Companies Trust PLC purchased
40,000 shares of its own 25p ordinary shares at 99.5 pence per share.  These
shares will be held in treasury.



Following the transaction, the Company's issued ordinary share capital is
32,381,760 (excluding treasury shares) and 32,596,760 (including treasury
shares) ordinary shares of 25p each.  The number of ordinary shares of 25p held
in treasury is 215,000.
