STANDARD LIFE UK SMALLER COMPANIES TRUST PLC

("the Company")

TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

The Company announces that on 24 October 2018 it purchased 186,120 of its own 25p Ordinary Shares at a price of 445.65 pence per share. These shares will be held in treasury.

Following the transaction, the Company's issued ordinary share capital is 100,990,197 Ordinary Shares of 25p each (excluding treasury shares). The number of Ordinary Shares of 25p held in treasury is 3,174,225.

The total number of voting rights in the Company is 100,990,197 and this figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in the Company, under the Disclosure, Guidance and Transparency Rules.
