Active Energy, the AIM - quoted Biomass fuel provider, announces the appointment of Richard Spinks as Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect.
Richard Spinks, a British national resident in the Ukraine, has been working in Central and Eastern Europe for over 22 years. He has experience in the food processing, agriculture and forestry/biomass industries, with a specific focus on business development within these sectors in Eastern Europe and Ukraine. From 2004 to 2009, Mr. Spinks was the founder and chief executive officer at Landkom International Plc, one of the first AIM-listed companies that was based in Ukraine. Prior to Landkom, he held a number of roles in the seafood sector from 2001 to 2004.
Mr. Spinks is the nominated representative of Eastwood Holdings Limited, a 17 per cent. shareholder in AEG, and is authorised by Eastwood Holdings Limited to act on its behalf in matters related to AEG.
He will be based in the Kiev offices of Active Energy Ukraine Limited ("AEU"), alongside Oles Kopets, the recently appointed Managing Director of AEU.
Upon the appointment of Richard Spinks to the board of AEG, Gavin Little, currently Executive Chairman, will step down from that role but will remain as Non-Executive Chairman.

Commenting on the appointment of Richard Spinks as CEO, AEG Non-Executive Chairman Gavin Little said:
"Richard's appointment brings a new energy and vision to Active Energy Group Plc. He is a solid and proven business leader in Eastern Europe, the focus of AEG's current operations, with an outstanding track record in business development and an extensive network of high-level contacts across many areas of government and industry.
His knowledge and experience in the region, combined with his fluency in Russian, Ukrainian and Polish, will ensure that he immediately adds value to our business and his long-term relationships with many of AEG's partners should significantly assist the Group in speedily achieving its strategic objectives.
Crucially, Richard's commercial experience in Ukraine, where he previously built and managed an organization with over 1,200 local employees, together with his personal involvement in Ukraine and Poland over the past two decades, should prove invaluable in ensuring AEG's future success.
I am confident that under Richard's leadership AEG will achieve growth in its Biomass business, and to that end I am delighted to have him on the team as CEO."
