BUCKLAND GROUP PLC
Trading statement
As anticipated in the Interim Report to 30 June 2004, Derlite has continued to
progress very satisfactorily over the period since June. Significant new supply
agreements have been concluded with various customers in Europe and North
America for spark ignition electrodes for domestic gas cookers and gas boilers.
As a result, Derlite's sales in 2005 are expected to be approximately triple the
£900,000 level achieved in 2002, the year of acquisition by Buckland. In order
to facilitate the build up of activity at Derlite, the scaling back of
operations at EAC continues as planned , with the emphasis being placed on
shedding high volume, low margin sales and instead concentrating on a small
number of strategic customers.
Group management accounts show a modest level of pre-tax profitability for the
three months ended 31 October. The Board is actively pursuing various
opportunities to build on the success of Derlite by increasing the group's
involvement in the domestic gas appliances industry.
