The deployment will enable SMART's subscribers to access a wide range of multi-media messaging services (MMS) and send and receive premium content such as picture messages, animated e-cards, polyphonic ringtones, cartoons and movies across any device or network. IBM, one of the world's largest system integrators, is providing consultancy and integration services and has selected Adamind's MediaSpireTM media adaptation software for deployment at Smart's Nokia MMS Center. The Philippines is a fast growing telecommunications market with a strong potential for the mass adoption of next generation mobile content-rich services. The country is already known as the SMS capital of the world, with an impressive 40% of the total mobile data ARPU, higher than any other country in the world. SMART handles an average of 20 million SMS messages per day and it expects the new MMS services - under brand names such as Fun Pix, Traffic Shots, Poly Tones, Card Toons and Real Pix - to lead to a significant increase in volumes and a higher contribution to ARPU. Adamind's MediaSpireTM sits at the heart of SMART'S networking infrastructure and is a critical component that adapts mobile content so that it can be produced for, delivered to, and received by any device or network without running into problems of compatibility. In addition, Adamind's device management tool will enable SMART to quickly introduce and tune new devices with support for all available content services.
