For Immediate Release: 18 April 2002
Advanced Medical Solutions Group plc ('AMS' or the 'Company')
Announces two new technology licensing deals and an update on the acquisition of
MedLogic
Winsford, UK: AMS, the medical device company, has today announced two major new
deals relating to its technology for advanced woundcare.
In January 2002, the Company took up an option to license silver fibre
technology from Noble Fiber Technologies Inc for incorporation into its alginate
based woundcare dressings. The Company has now signed a Development Agreement
for silver alginate products with a major international woundcare company.
Products arising out of this collaboration will now be taken through
development, clinical and regulatory approval for launch in 2003.
The Company also announced last September the granting of a patent for its
anti-bleed gel. A separate agreement has now also been signed with a major
international pharmaceutical company with whom AMS will be collaborating to
develop a product for launch during 2003 under a leading antibiotic brand.
Commenting on these announcements, Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Don Evans
stated:
'We are extremely pleased to have now completed these two agreements whereby we
are able to take two of our key new technologies out into the market place with
powerful blue-chip partners. As stated in our recent preliminary results
announcement, to sign up partners for these products was part of our immediate
corporate strategy and we see these deals as being instrumental in helping to
drive our growth in higher value products going forward'.
In relation to the recent announcement of the acquisition of MedLogic Global
Holdings Limited, Dr. Evans commented:
'The response to our recent announcement from our major partners has been
overwhelmingly positive with many of them requesting meetings to discuss taking
the MedLogic tissue adhesives and sealants into hospitals, nursing homes and
consumer OTC channels. We are very confident that we can bring on board major
partners for these products during the second half of this year'.
