Under the terms of this agreement, AMS will have an exclusive license for Hardwood's novel popule delivery system for use with medical cyanoacrylates. This popule technology will be combined with AMS' MedLogic cyanoacrylate medical adhesive to create products that offer controlled application of a liquid film for protecting skin from breakdown and for treating minor wounds in the Professional Woundcare, Consumer and Sports markets. Hardwood will be responsible for filling into their popule delivery system, AMS's proprietary cyanoacrylate medical adhesive, and AMS will have exclusive worldwide distribution rights, except in the US where Hardwood will also be able to distribute the products into the Professional woundcare market under its Puritan brand. It is expected that distribution into the Professional market of products resulting from the combination of these technologies will start in Q3 2003 and into the Consumer and Sports markets in Q4 2003. Commenting on this partnership, Terry Young, Managing Director of Hardwood, stated: 'Our popule applicator is widely used for easy and convenient delivery of medical solutions for cleaning and treating skin such as alcohol and iodine. I am delighted that we can now add cyanoacrylate adhesives to our product range by partnering with a leader in this technology.' Dr. Don Evans, Chief Executive Officer of AMS added: 'The use of cyanoacrylate based adhesives for protecting skin from breakdown in a wide variety of areas ranging from nursing homes to sports and as liquid bandages for treating minor cuts and abrasions is growing rapidly. A key for the successful use of these materials is precise, controlled application as thin films and this is achieved with Hardwood's popule design.' 'This deal is a key component in AMS bringing new and improved products to market through its sales and distribution partners.' - ENDS - For further information, please contact: Advanced Medical Solutions Group plc Tel : +44 (0) 1606 863 500 Don Evans, Chief Executive www.admedsol.com Buchanan Communications Tel: +44 (0) 207 466 5000 Nicola How / Fergus Mellon Notes to Editors: Advanced Medical Solutions is a leading company in the development and manufacture of products for the £15 billion global woundcare market.
