Presence at major woundcare meetings in US and Latin America
Winsford, UK: Advanced Medical Solutions Group plc (AIM: AMS), the global
medical technology company, attended the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care and
Wound Healing Society (SAWC/WHS) Meeting held in San Diego, California on 24th -
27th April. This is the major international meeting for researchers, clinicians
and exhibitors in advanced woundcare and is a key forum for launching new
products and presenting new research.
A total of 330 scientific/clinical posters were presented and 180 companies
exhibited their products at the meeting. AMS' technology was well represented
with nine major woundcare companies featuring the Company's advanced woundcare
products on their stands. This year's Symposium continued to highlight the
widespread use of silver-containing wound dressings for preventing infection,
which is a particular focus area and key growth driver for AMS.
Considerable interest was shown in the scientific sessions on technologies that
may accelerate healing of chronic wounds. These included approaches to remove
bacterial bio-films from wounds and technologies that inhibit the release of
enzymes that delay or prevent wound healing. Both of these are areas that AMS
is currently evaluating as part of its advanced woundcare R & D programme.
The Company will also be exhibiting at Hospitalar 2008, Latin America's largest
medical trade fair to be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil on 10th - 13th June 2008
where it will be introducing its advanced woundcare and wound closure products
to the Latin American market.
Commenting on this announcement, Dr. Don Evans, Chief Executive of AMS, stated:
'The recent SAWC/WHS meeting in San Diego confirmed AMS' strong position in the
dynamic silver wound dressings market and underlined the clinical need and
interest in a number of its key R & D focus areas for enhancing wound healing.
'I am also delighted that we will be showcasing our advanced woundcare and wound
closure product ranges at Hospitalar in Brazil as part of addressing the Latin
American market opportunity for our technology.'
