AFC Energy's world-leading team welcomes new Director of Manufacturing
AFC Energy PLC (LSE:AFC), world-leading developers of low cost alkaline fuel cells, is delighted to announce that Ed Wilson, former Chief Executive of CEL International, has been appointed Director of Manufacturing. He brings with him a wealth of experience in managing multi-disciplinary turnkey projects worldwide and will be a key element in the scaling up and rolling out of AFC Energy's pioneering technology.
Ed is currently a board member of Nova Pangaea Technologies and has held several senior level management positions; major clients including Diageo, Cadbury's, GlaxoSmithKline, Novartis and AstraZeneca. His operational and commercial expertise with multinational blue-chip companies will enable him to help drive AFC Energy's technology towards commercialisation. Ed has direct fuel cell experience with project development for several leading companies including Johnson Matthey and National Power.
"I have been really inspired by what I have seen over the last few months and am very excited to be working with such a leading edge company. Every development at AFC represents a huge milestone for green technology and I look forward to helping the company push those developments to market in the future," Ed commented.
Ed started working for CEL International in 1997 as Operations Director, responsible for the management of multi-disciplinary projects and front-end studies; he quickly became Managing Director. In 2005 he led the company through a management buyout and subsequently a highly successful trade sale to the WSP Group where he took on the role of Chief Executive of CEL International. During his time at CEL International, Ed was instrumental in building the business and achieved significant profitability. By focusing on growth he took the company from an internally focussed engineering group into a premier, highly respected UK based Engineering Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) contractor.
Previous to this, Ed was Director at Dalkia PLC, a subsidiary of Vivendi Group. He has also held positions at Courtaulds Engineering, Foster Wheeler Energy in the UK and South Africa, and Redpath Dorman Long in the UK and Hong Kong. His expertise in risk management, commercial and contract leadership and resource management will be a valuable contribution to AFC Energy's success.
"Ed joins a highly skilled and dedicated team of specialists and his appointment will bring together our developments, launching them to the manufacturing level. It is an exciting time for the team and we look forward to utilising Ed's invaluable experience," commented Ian Balchin, CEO of AFC Energy.
