ANNOUNCEMENT ON KEY OPERATING DATA OF FEBRUARY 2016

 

 

In February 2016, Air China Limited (the "Company"), and its subsidiaries (the "Group") recorded an increase in combined passenger traffic (measured by revenue passenger kilometers ("RPK")) as compared to the same period last year and to last month, respectively. Compared to the same period last year, passenger capacity (measured by available seat kilometers ("ASK")) increased by 12.7%, while passenger traffic, increased by 11.1%. For domestic routes, passenger capacity and passenger traffic increased by 5.3% and 5.0%, respectively, as compared to the same period last year. For international routes, passenger capacity and passenger traffic increased by 29.9% and 26.0%, respectively, as compared to the same period last year. Passenger capacity on regional routes increased by 6.4%, while passenger traffic increased by 4.3% as compared to the same period last year. The overall passenger load factor was 81.4%, recording a year-on-year decrease by 1.2 percentage points. The passenger load factor for domestic, international and regional routes decreased by 0.2, 2.4 and 1.6 percentage points, respectively.

 

The Company launched a Shenzhen-Beijing-Los Angeles route (seven flights each week) on 1 February 2016 and a Sanya-Beijing-Frankfurt route (seven flights each week) on 8 February 2016.

 

In terms of cargo operations, in February 2016, both cargo and mail traffic (measured by revenue freight tonne kilometers ("RFTK")) and volume of cargo and mail uplifted saw a slight decline on a year-on-year basis and as compared to last month. Cargo capacity (measured by available freight tonne kilometers ("AFTK")) rose by 14.2% year-on-year in February 2016. Cargo and mail traffic decreased by 1.8% and volume of cargo and mail uplifted declined by 5.3% as compared to the same period last year. The cargo load factor was 41.1% in February 2016, representing a year-on-year decrease of 6.7 percentage points.

 

In February 2016, the Group added three A320 and retired four aircraft, including one B737-800, one B757-200, one A321 and one business jet. As at the end of February 2016, the Group operated a fleet of 593 aircraft.
