ANNOUNCEMENT ON KEY OPERATING DATA OF NOVEMBER 2016
In November 2016, Air China Limited (the "Company"), and its subsidiaries (the "Group") recorded an increase in combined passenger traffic (measured by revenue passenger kilometers ("RPK")) as compared to the same period last year, but a slight decline as compared to last month. Compared to the same period last year, passenger capacity (measured by available seat kilometers ("ASK")) increased by 6.0%, and passenger traffic increased by 8.2%. For domestic routes, passenger capacity and passenger traffic increased by 10.5% and 11.4%, respectively, as compared to the same period last year. For international routes, passenger capacity and passenger traffic increased 0.6% and 4.4%, respectively, as compared to the same period last year. Passenger capacity on regional routes decreased by 10.2%, and passenger traffic saw a decline of 8.4%, as compared to the same period last year. The overall passenger load factor was 79.7%, an increase of 1.6 percentage points compared to the same period last year. The passenger load factor for domestic, international and regional grew by 0.7 percentage point, 2.7 percentage points and 1.4 percentage points, respectively.
The Company launched a Tianjin-Urumqi-Gulja route (four times a week) on 1 November 2016, a Chongqing-Huai'an-Changchun route (three times a week) on 2 November 2016, and a Chengdu-Sydney route (three times a week) on 11 November 2016.
In terms of cargo operations, in November 2016, both cargo and mail traffic (measured by Revenue Freight Tonne Kilometres ("RFTK")) and freight tonnage carried displayed growth on a year-on-year basis and a monthly basis. Cargo capacity (measured by available freight tonne kilometers ("AFTK")) rose by 8.5% year-on-year. Cargo and mail traffic increased by 11.8% and volume of cargo and mail grew by 10.9% as compared to the same period last year. The cargo load factor was 58.3%, representing a year-on-year increase of 1.7 percentage points.
In November 2016, the Group added eight aircraft in total, including two B777-300ER, three B737-800, one A330 and two A320, and retired one B737-800 and one business jet. As at the end of November 2016, the Group operated a fleet of 622 aircraft.
