ANNOUNCEMENT ON KEY OPERATING DATA OF DECEMBER 2020

The enclosed announcement (the "SSE Announcement") was published by Air China Limited ("AirChina") on the Shanghai Stock Exchange on 15 January 2021, which contains combined operating data for December 2020 for Air China and its subsidiaries (collectively, the "Group"). This announcement enclosing the SSE Announcement is made by Air China pursuant to Rules 13.09 and 13.10B of the Rules Governing the Listing of Securities on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (the "ListingRules") and the Inside Information Provisions (as defined in  the Listing Rules) under Part XIVA of the Securities and Futures Ordinance ( Chapter 571 of the Laws of Hong Kong).

ANNOUNCEMENT ON KEY OPERATING DATA OF DECEMBER 2020

In December 2020, Air China Limited (the "Company"), and its subsidiaries (the "Group") recorded a year-on-year decrease of 37.2% and a month-on-month decrease of 3.6% in passenger capacity (measured by available seat kilometers (the "ASK")). Passenger traffic (measured by revenue passenger kilometers (the "RPK")) recorded a year-on-year decrease of 46.3% and a month-on-month decrease of 9.7%. For domestic routes, passenger capacity recorded a year-on-year increase of 1.3% and a month-on-month decrease of 3.5%; passenger traffic recorded a year-on-year decrease of 12.7% and a month-on-month decrease of 9.9%. For international routes, passenger capacity recorded a year-on-year decrease of 94.9% and a month-on-month decrease of 13.1%; passenger traffic recorded a year-on-year decrease of 97.2% and a month-on-month decrease of 10.7%. For regional routes, passenger capacity recorded a year-on-year decrease of 76.5% and a month-on-month increase of 9.6%; passenger traffic recorded a year-on-year decrease of 82.5% and a month-on-month increase of 26.0%. The overall passenger load factor was 67.6%, representing a year-on-year decrease of 11.3 percentage points and a month-on- month decrease of 4.5 percentage points. The passenger load factor for domestic routes decreased by  11.0 percentage points year on year and 4.9 percentage points month on month, and for international routes decreased by 35.4 percentage points year on year and increased by 1.2 percentage points month on month, and the passenger load factor for regional routes decreased by 18.6 percentage points year on year and increased by 7.2 percentage points month on month. 

In terms of cargo operations, cargo capacity (measured by available freight tonne kilometers (the "AFTK")) increased by 0.1% year on  year. Cargo and mail traffic (measured by  revenue freight  tonne kilometers (the "RFTK")) decreased by 12.6% year on year. The cargo load factor was 37.2%, representing a year-on-year decrease of 5.4 percentage points and a month-on-month increase of 0.8 percentage point.

In December 2020, the Group introduced two A321 NEO aircraft and two A350 aircraft. As at the end of December 2020, the Group operated a fleet of 708 aircraft, including 293 self-owned aircraft, 212 aircraft under finance lease and 203 aircraft under operating lease.
