ANNOUNCEMENT ON KEY OPERATING DATA OF JULY 2016

ANNOUNCEMENT ON KEY OPERATING DATA OF JULY 2016

 

In July 2016, Air China Limited (the "Company"), and its subsidiaries (the "Group") recorded an increase in combined passenger traffic (measured by revenue passenger kilometers ("RPK")) as compared to the same period last year and to last month, respectively. Compared to the same period last year, passenger capacity (measured by available seat kilometers ("ASK")) increased by 7.7%, while passenger traffic, increased by 9.7%. For domestic routes, passenger capacity and passenger traffic increased by 2.3% and 4.0%, respectively, as compared to the same period last year. For international routes, passenger capacity and passenger traffic increased by 19.3% and 21.0%, respectively, as compared to the same period last year. Passenger capacity on regional routes decreased by 3.9%, while passenger traffic saw a growth of 4.0%, as compared to the same period last year. The overall passenger load factor was 82.9%, representing an increase of 1.5 percentage point compared to the same period last year. The passenger load factor for domestic, international and regional grew by 1.4, 1.2 and 5.9 percentage points, respectively.

 

The Group launched a Hangzhou - Surat Thani route (three times a week) on 5 July 2016, a Yinchuan - Chongqing - Nha Trang route (seven times a week) on 15 July 2016, a Beijing - Hami - Shihezi route (three times a week) and a Beijing - Korla route (four times a week) on 21 July 2016.

 

In terms of cargo operations, in July 2016, both Revenue Freight Tonne Kilometres ("RFTK")) and freight tonnage carried recorded an increase on a year-on-year basis, but a slight decline as compared to last month. Cargo capacity (measured by available freight tonne kilometers ("AFTK")) rose by 2.7% year-on-year. Cargo and mail traffic increased by 2.3% and volume of cargo and mail uplifted grew by 3.2% as compared to the same period last year. The cargo load factor was 57.3% in July 2016, representing a year-on-year decrease of 0.2 percentage point.

 

In July 2016, the Group introduced one B787-9, one B737-800, one B737-700 and three A320, and retired one B777-200. As at the end of July 2016, the Group operated a fleet of 607 aircraft.
