ANNOUNCEMENT ON KEY OPERATING DATA OF OCTOBER 2020
In October 2020, Air China Limited (the "Company"), and its subsidiaries (the "Group") recorded decrease in combined passenger traffic (measured by revenue passenger kilometers (the "RPK")) as compared to the same period last year and recorded increase as compared to last month. Passenger capacity (measured by available seat kilometers (the "ASK")) recorded a year-on-year decrease of 29.2% and a month-on-month increase of 10.4%. Passenger traffic recorded a year-on-year decrease of 35.3% and a month-on-month increase of 8.8%. For domestic routes, passenger capacity recorded a year-on-year increase of 13.7% and a month-on-month increase of 9.8%; passenger traffic recorded a year-on-year increase of 2.6% and a month-on-month increase of 8.3%. For international routes, passenger capacity increased by 11.2% and passenger traffic increased by 11.1%, as compared to last month. Passenger capacity on regional routes increased by 102.2% and passenger traffic increased by 428.4%, as compared to last month. The overall passenger load factor was 74.6%, representing a decrease of 1.1 percentage points as compared to last month. The passenger load factor for domestic routes decreased by 1.1 percentage points and for international routes decreased by 0.1 percentage point as compared to last month, and the passenger load factor for regional routes increased by 26.4 percentage points month-on-month.
In terms of cargo operations, cargo capacity (measured by available freight tonne kilometers (the "AFTK")) increased by 12.1% year-on-year and 17.6% month-on-month. Cargo and mail traffic (measured by revenue freight tonne kilometers (the "RFTK")) decreased by 12.4% year-on-year and increased by 6.0% month-on-month. The cargo load factor was 35.9%, representing a year-on-year decrease of 10.1 percentage points and a month-on-month decrease of 3.9 percentage points.
In October 2020, the Group introduced one ARJ21 aircraft, one A320NEO aircraft, and retired one A320 aircraft. As at the end of October 2020, the Group operated a fleet of 703 aircraft, including 293 self-owned aircraft, 208 aircraft under finance lease and 202 aircraft under operating lease.
