          allots 1,026,500 Shares in respect of the 2001/2002 Offer           
                    which is now extended to 30 April 2001                    


The Board of Close Technology & General is pleased to announce that 1,026,500
Shares have been allotted under the 2001/2002 Offer taking total allotments,
including those for the 2000/2001 Offer which is now closed, up to 13,241,360
Shares. 

Dealings in the 1,026,500 Shares allotted in respect of the 2001/2002 Offer
will commence on 9 April 2001. Shares allotted subsequent to the first closing
of 16 January 2001 will not rank for the interim dividend for the six months
to 30 June 2001.

The 2001/2002 Offer will now be extended to 30 April 2001.
