                                AGM STATEMENT



The Annual General Meeting of Alkane Energy plc, the UK's leading commercial
producer of methane gas from abandoned coal mines, was held today. At the
meeting Dr.Cameron Davies, Chairman, made the following statement:



'I am pleased to report that our roll out programme has continued to gather
momentum.  We have reinforced our team through the recruitment of additional
managers, specialists and consultants who are working on our site research
programme.  We have already signed heads of agreement in respect of the
development of fourteen abandoned coal mine sites and development work has
started at two of these in Yorkshire.  We are pleased with the level of
interest received to date and are currently in discussions with potential
customers for the development of more new methane extraction sites.

'Overall, I am pleased to report that your Company continues to perform in
line with expectations.  I would also like to take this opportunity to thank
shareholders for their support since our stock market flotation in December of
last year.'
