Alkane Energy PLC ('Alkane' or 'The Company') was today notified that John
Lander, Chairman of the Company, has today purchased 100,000 ordinary shares at
a price of 10p per share, representing 0.1% of the issued share capital. The
shares are registered in the name of Rock Nominees Limited.

Mr Lander had no beneficial interest in ordinary shares in the Company before
this purchase.
