Alkane Energy plc ('Alkane' or 'the Company') was today notified that John
Lander, Chairman of the Company, has today purchased 100,000 ordinary shares at
a price of 10.875p per share, representing 0.1% of the issued share capital. The
shares are registered in the name of Rock Nominees Limited.

Mr Lander has a total holding following this purchase of 200,000 ordinary
shares, representing 0.2% of the issued share capital.
