DIRECTORATE CHANGE

Alliance Trust PLC is pleased to announce the appointment of Win Robbins as a non-executive director of the Company with immediate effect.

Win is currently a member of the Board of City Merchants High Yield Trust Ltd, a non-executive member of the Investment Committee of St James' Place Partnership PLC, a Trustee Director of NOW:Pensions Trust, and the Independent Trustee, Landesbank Baden-Wuerttemberg  UK pension fund. Previously senior roles have included being a member of the Investment Committee of MaxCap LLP, Managing Director and Head of European Fixed Income at Barclays Global Investors, Managing Director and Head of non-US Fixed Income at Citigroup Asset Management and Managing Director and Head of European Fixed Income at Credit Suisse Asset Management.

 Mrs Karin Forseke, Chair of Alliance Trust PLC, said: "I am delighted to announce the appointment of Win Robbins to the Board of Alliance Trust. and in the last five years she has been a Director of the following publicly-quoted company:

• City Merchant High Yield Trust PLC which went into a solvent members' voluntary liquidation on 30 March 2012.
