TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES/TOTAL VOTING RIGHTS (Correction)

The announcements released on 23 October 2012 and 31 October 2012 included an incorrect number of voting rights in the Company and should have read '561,666,146' and not '561,166,146'.

All other information and figures remain unchanged. The full corrected text of the announcements is set out below.

TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Alliance Trust PLC ("the Company") announces that on 22 October 2012 the Company purchased for cancellation 1,150,000 ordinary shares of 2.5p each at an average price of 373.0p per share.  

Therefore, the total number of voting rights in the Company is now 561,666,146.

The above figure (561,666,146) may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.  

TOTAL VOTING RIGHTS

In accordance with the DTR rule 5.6.1 of the Financial Services Authority's Disclosure and Transparency Rules Alliance Trust PLC confirms the following:

Alliance Trust PLC's issued share capital as at 31 October 2012 consists of 561,666,146 ordinary shares with voting rights. Alliance Trust PLC does not hold any ordinary shares in treasury.

The above figure 561,666,146 may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the Financial Services Authority's 's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
