Dividend Declaration

Alliance Trust PLC announces the declaration of a first interim dividend for the
period  ending  31 December  2011 of  2.141 pence  per share, payable on 30 June
2011 to shareholders on the register on 3 June 2011.  The ex-dividend date is 1
June 2011.

The  dividend is in line  with that indicated in  our Annual Report and Accounts
for  the year ended 31 January  2011 and will be paid  one month earlier than in
previous  years to reflect the change in the Company's financial year end to 31
December.   In the absence of any  unforeseen developments, the Board expects to
be  able to  recommend further  quarterly interim  dividends of  the same amount
payable  on 30 September 2011 and 3 January  2012, and a fourth interim dividend
of at least that amount, payable on 2 April 2012
