Following sanction by the Court of Session on Monday 19th June 2006, the merger
of The Alliance Trust PLC and the Second Alliance Trust PLC will become effective
today.

Neither company will publish a Net Asset Value today.

Tomorrow, 22 June 2006, Alliance Trust PLC will publish its Net Asset Value which
will reflect the merger.
