ANGLE PLC
VENTURES UPDATE
ANGLE plc, the venture management and consulting company specialising in the
commercialisation of technology, is holding a Showcase of its IP and Development
Pipeline at the University of Reading today and will be updating the market on
progress.
The purpose of the visit is to provide the audience with an opportunity to
enhance their understanding of ANGLE's 20 year strategic partnership with the
University of Reading ('University') as announced on 27 July 2006. Professor
Carl Stychin, Pro Vice Chancellor of Enterprise, will provide background on the
University of Reading's research activities as a top 200 world university and a
top 20 UK research-led university with £162 million income in 2006/07, 17,500
students and 4,000 staff.
Two specific areas of research, which are receiving close attention from ANGLE,
will be showcased. Dr James Anderson of the Department of Computer Science will
discuss his Transreal arithmetic and its applications in computing and Professor
Edman Tsang of the Department of Chemistry will present on his portfolio of
research in nanomaterials, with a broad range of potential applications from
catalysis to data storage.
ANGLE will also be presenting progress in two of its existing portfolio
companies, Geomerics and Synature.
Geomerics, which has created market-leading graphics software for the games
industry, will announce the launch of its enhanced radiosity product, bringing
movie quality lighting to real time computer games. Geomerics has already
generated strong interest in its radiosity product from computer games
developers.
Geomerics now has forged links with many of the key industry participants, and
will be announcing that it has been selected to join Microsoft Xbox 360 Tools
Program. Participation in these key industry programmes is a major step towards
the integration of Geomerics' technology in the hardware platforms of the
future.
Synature, which is developing next generation internet target marketing and
social networking software, will announce the launch of its product with two
early stage customers, a leading portal for marketers and a social networking
site, which are using the product to promote interaction between its users,
creating stickiness to the site and thereby increasing advertising revenues.
Finally, ANGLE will be announcing that it is in advanced negotiations for a
strategic partnership with another University and expects to be able to announce
further progress in the New Year.
Andrew Newland, Chief Executive of ANGLE said:
'We are delighted that our partnership with the University of Reading is
progressing well and look forward to announcing to the market our next
University partnership. Both Geomerics and Synature, which build on the work of
academics from the University of Cambridge, are making strong commercial
progress and showing the promise of substantial returns in the future.'
