Sir John Parker - Share Interests

In accordance with the terms of Sir John Parker's appointment as Chairman of the Company, Sir John has been awarded and therefore now has a beneficial interest in 31,000 ordinary shares in the Company. These shares were acquired on 15 September 2009 at a price of £20.67 per share. The share award will be released in full on the third anniversary of appointment, subject to Sir John's continued Chairmanship. Sir John will invest progressively in Anglo American over the same period in order to acquire a holding of equal value to the share award. 

The notification of these transactions is to satisfy the Company's obligations under the Financial Services Authority Disclosure and Transparency Rules 3.1.2 to 3.1.4.
