Sir John Parker - Share Interests

As contemplated by the terms of his appointment as Chairman of the Company in 2009, Sir John Parker has been awarded 7,552 ordinary shares in the Company. These shares were acquired on 28 February 2011 at a cost of £33.10 per share. This share award will be released in full on the third anniversary of the award - 28 February 2014, subject to Sir John's continued Chairmanship. Sir John will invest progressively in Anglo American over the same period in order to acquire a holding of equal value to this share award.

The notification of these transactions is to satisfy the Company's obligations under the Financial Services Authority Disclosure and Transparency Rules 3.1.2 to 3.1.4.
