The Company announces that on 1 March 2006 Mr R S Robertson, a Person
Discharging Managerial Responsibility of the Company ("PDMR"), exercised options
to acquire and immediately sold, ordinary shares of US$0.50 in the capital of
the Company (the "Shares") under the Anglo American plc Executive Share Option
Scheme as follows:
