Anglo American PLC
27 November 2001
Notification concerning interests in ordinary shares of US$0.50 each in the
capital of Anglo American plc ('Ordinary Shares')
We were today given notification pursuant to paragraph 16.13(c) of the listing
rules of the UK Listing Authority that, on 20 November 2001, CHL Investments
SA ('CHLISA') sold 12 month call options, maturing on 20 November 2002 and
exercisable at any time up to or on that date, over 5,000,000 Ordinary Shares
with a strike price of £12.41.
CHLISA is connected with Mr N F Oppenheimer, because it is ultimately
controlled by trustees of trusts of which Mr N F Oppenheimer is a potential
discretionary beneficiary. Although CHLISA is not connected with Mr J Ogilvie
Thompson for the purposes of the rules, trustees of trusts of which he is a
potential discretionary beneficiary have an indirect economic interest in
CHLISA.
