                         Anglo American Interim Results

On Wednesday 4 August 2004 the Board of Anglo American plc (the  'Company') will
meet to consider the interim results of the Company for the six months ending 30
June 2004 and the recommendation of an interim dividend.  An announcement will
be issued at the opening of business on Thursday 5 August 2004.
