TREASURY SHARES - TRANSFER

In accordance with Listing Rule 12.6.4, Anglo American plc announces that on 23 November 2010 986 shares were transferred out of the Company's holding of treasury shares in order to satisfy maturing share options under the Company's SAYE plan.

Following the transfers, Anglo American plc has a total of 23,049,349 ordinary shares held in treasury and a total of 1,319,883,365 ordinary shares in issue, excluding treasury shares.
