TREASURY SHARES - TRANSFERS

In accordance with Listing Rule 12.6.4, Anglo American plc announces that on 29 and 30 November 2010 1,200 and 1,685 shares respectively were transferred out of the Company's holding of treasury shares in order to satisfy maturing share options under the Company's ESOS and SAYE plans.

Following the transfers, Anglo American plc has a total of 23,046,485 ordinary shares held in treasury and a total of 1,319,886,229 ordinary shares in issue, excluding treasury shares.
