TREASURY SHARES - TRANSFERS

In accordance with Listing Rule 12.6.4, Anglo American plc announces that a total of 96,900 ordinary shares were transferred from treasury shares between 5 and 6 March 2013 in respect of the Company's share plans.

Following the transfers, Anglo American plc has a total of 12,100,135 ordinary shares held in treasury and a total of 1,393,362,311 ordinary shares in issue, excluding treasury shares.
