ANGLO-EASTERN PLANTATIONS PLC  

The board of Anglo-Eastern Plantations Plc announces that it is actively
exploring a secondary listing of its shares on the Singapore Stock Exchange.

For some time it has been the company's aim to achieve greater exposure for its
shares in the Asian region.

Application for a listing on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange was aborted at the
end of 1997 with the onset of the Asian economic crisis.  The board believes
market conditions have improved sufficiently to reactivate the policy and that
Singapore is now the most suitable location.  The form and terms of any listing
will depend on market conditions at the time.
