Knowledge Technology Solutions PLC
Appointment of Sales and Marketing Director
Knowledge Technology Solutions PLC (KTS), the independent provider of real-time
data solutions for financial professionals, is pleased to announce the
appointment of Richard Burtsal as sales and marketing director. The appointment
will take effect on 31 March.
Richard Burtsal, aged 44, was previously with Caplin Systems Ltd, a provider of
real-time web technology, which he joined in 2001. At Caplin, Richard was
Account Director for Europe and was involved in developing the European product
strategy for the business. This included creating new opportunities within the
retail and exchange sectors.
Between 1993 and 2001 Richard was an Associate Director at Thomson Financial,
the global supplier of data, analysis and information tools to the finance
industry. Part of the initial ICV sales force that established a significant
share of the UK equities market, he subsequently was involved in new product
launches including the European introduction of a global trading service.
Prior to Thomson Financial, Richard held a senior account manager position at
The London Stock Exchange for five years, where he introduced best execution and
ETC systems and managed clients generating £10m annual revenue.
In his new role, Richard will be responsible for rolling out KTS' new
thin-client interactive market data applications to financial institutions. This
includes QuoteTerminal, the UK market data product and will also include
MarketTerminalTM, the international market data product, due for release later
this year.
Dr Marc Pinter Krainer, chief executive of Knowledge Technology Solutions PLC,
commented:
'Richard's appointment comes at a time when KTS is seeing strong sales momentum,
driven by the wholesale migration of the market data industry from legacy
closed-network systems to the next generation of Internet-based market data
technology. He has wide-ranging industry connections and substantial experience
within the market data industry and I am confident that Richard will prove
invaluable to our team as we build market share.'
Richard Burtsal said:
'I believe that KTS is well positioned to revolutionise the technology and
economics of market data collection and distribution. QuoteTerminal has
demonstrated this and already attracted a high calibre client base who are
seeing the benefits. I'm pleased to be joining the business at such an important
stage in its growth.'
