Drilling Update from Limerick Zinc Discovery

Highlights:

  • As part of the follow-up drilling programme a second hole intersects significant thickness and grade of zinc and lead at Stonepark, Limerick

  • 15.35 metres of 3.25% zinc including 2.85 metres of 12.18% zinc / 0.75% lead

  • Two rigs continue with follow-up drilling

The directors of Connemara (AIM: CON.L), the AIM listed Irish zinc explorer are pleased to provide an update on drilling at their Stonepark zinc discovery in Limerick, Ireland following their successful 5 hole scouting programme at the end of 2007.

Drilling resumed at Stonepark in February 2008 and a recent step out drill hole, (Hole TC-2638-7), located 100 metres from the initial scouting discovery hole (Hole TC-2638-4) intersected 15.35 metres of 3.25% zinc and 0.33% lead including 2.85 metres of 12.18% zinc and 0.75% lead.

The high grade zinc mineralisation and thick well-developed mineralised zones are suggestive of the presence of a large base metal mineralised system. Results of the two discovery holes of which drill hole TC-2638-4 was reported on in November 2007, are shown in Table 1 below.

Two rigs continue to drill onsite. The Stonepark discovery is on the Monaster block of six licences which lie directly on strike to the southwest of the Xstrata/Minco discoveries at Pallas Green. The property is under option to and being operated by Teck Cominco Ireland, a subsidiary of Teck Cominco Limited, who is earning a 75% interest by spending Cdn$3.0 million over 4 years.

John Teeling, Chairman of Connemara Mining, commented;

'This drilling result is what we wanted - high grade, big thickness, 100 metres from the original discovery.

The grades and thickness in this recent hole, and in the earlier hole, compare very well with those in the Lisheen and Galmoy zinc mines to the northeast of Stonepark.

It is very early days, but this second high quality hole increases both the interest and confidence in the licence area.'

This release has been approved by Graham Reid, P. Geo., Director BRG Technical Services, consultants to Connemara. Mr. Reid has 30 years mineral exploration and evaluation experience.
