Connemara Mining Company
Exploration on Thurles & Donegal Blocks
Connemara Mining ("Connemara" or "The Company") (AIM: CON), the diversified exploration company with assets in base metal zinc/lead and gold exploration across Ireland; is pleased to provide an update on exploration activity on its wholly owned zinc/lead licenses in Thurles and gold prospective licenses in Donegal.
Connemara holds three licenses in the Thurles area close to the Lisheen zinc mine. The blocks were chosen because they share similar geology with the mine and were lightly explored. Significant work has already been completed on the block by Connemara including four drill holes. No mineralization was encountered in the holes but there were positive structural indicators. The Company is commencing geophysical IP & resistivity surveys across the structural targets identified with the aim of improving the geological model for the block as well as sampling and analysing key intersections from the 2012 drilling program to see if vectors can be drawn to more prospective areas.
Fieldwork is currently underway on the Donegal block of 10 licences which have gold potential. The Company obtained and analysed the Tellus Border data, including soil samples. This analysis identified a broad structural target zone. This early stage programme is designed to better outline the dimensions of the zone.
John Teeling, Chairman, commented "I am happy to report that we are back in the field exploring for zinc and gold. In recent months we have completed reviews of all of the data on both the Thurles zinc/lead licence block and the new Donegal gold prospective block of ten licences. We know a lot about Thurles and very little about Donegal. The Thurles exploration programme is designed to better identify potential drill targets while the Donegal exploration is designed to give a general understanding of what might be there.
An update on the Teck zinc Joint Ventures and Hendrick gold Joint Venture will be provided in the near future."
