Above expected first results from the Water Project for Western Utilities
Corporation
15 April 2008
The Directors of Watermark are pleased to announce the first results, from the
Council for Scientific & Industrial Research ('CSIR') pilot water plant, by its
wholly-owned subsidiary, Western Utilities Corporation (Pty) Ltd ('WUC'). The
pilot plant has now been operating for a month and results from the plant are
extremely encouraging and well within expected results.
The purpose of the pilot plant is two-fold, namely proof of the Company's
concept and secondly, verification of mass balances, including by-products
generated by the process that will form part of the commercialisation phase and
could generate additional revenue. Although detailed mass balances are not yet
available, this requires a further two to three month operational period of the
plant. Chemical analysis of the water indicates that the Acid Mine water can be
effectively treated through the CSIR process. The South African National
Accreditation System ('SANAS') standard for industrial quality (SANAS class two)
and the current results achieved are depicted in the table below:
Criteria SANAS Class II Feed Water Product Water

construction of a 75 megalitre (per day) plant which has the potential to be
expanded to 200 megalitre per day.
