Artemis Alpha Trust plc (the 'Company')

Transaction in own shares

On 24 February 2009, the Company made a market purchase of 15,000 of its own ordinary shares of 1p, 
representing 0.05% of the issued share capital. The shares were bought at 157.167p per share and the 
Company intends to hold these shares in treasury.  These shares will only be re-issued at prices which are in 
excess of the diluted net asset value of the Company's shares immediately before such re-issue.

Following this purchase, there are 30,816,988 ordinary shares in issue and 2,541,500 ordinary shares held in 
treasury.
