Transaction in own shares


The Company has today made a market purchase of 125,000 of its own ordinary
shares of 1p, representing 0.38% of the issued share capital.  The shares were
bought at 212p per share and the Company intends to hold these shares in
treasury.  These shares will only be re-issued at prices which are in excess of
the diluted net asset value of the Company's shares immediately before such re-
issue.


Following this purchase, there are 32,668,488 ordinary shares in issue and
690,000 ordinary shares held in treasury.
