                              Total Voting Rights

In conformity with the Transparency Directive's transitional provision 6 Ascent
Resources plc would like to notify the market of the following:

At 30 March 2007, Ascent's share capital consists of 290,504,891 ordinary shares
of 0.1p each with voting rights. Ascent does not hold any ordinary shares in
treasury. Therefore, the total number of voting rights in Ascent is 290,504,891.

The above figure of 290,504,891 may be used by shareholders as the denominator
for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify
their interest in, or a change to their interest in, Ascent under the FSA's
Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
