Ashmore Group plc ("Ashmore") today announces the appointment of Simon Fraser to the Board as a Non Executive Director effective 10th February 2012.

There are no further details required to be disclosed pursuant to Listing Rule 9.6.13 in connection with his appointment.

Simon Fraser is a non executive director of Barclays Bank plc and Barclays plc, Chairman of Foreign & Colonial Investment Trust plc, The Merchants Trust plc and a non executive director of Fidelity European Values Plc and Fidelity Japanese Values Plc.

Simon Fraser graduated from St Andrews University with an MA in Geography and also holds an MBA from Columbia University, New York. He has extensive experience of the fund management industry, having worked at Fidelity International from 1981 to 2008, latterly as President of the Investment Solutions Group and President of the Retirement Institute. Simon held a number of positions during his career at Fidelity International, including President, European & UK Institutional Business, Global Chief Investment Officer, Chief Investment Officer for Asia Pacific and Chief Investment Officer of the European Investment Group.
