The Company received, on 24 June 2002, the following letters dated 20 June 2002
from Barclays PLC.


Letter No. 1


Dear Sir

I enclose a letter formally notifying you of the Group's interest in the capital
of your Company.

The purpose of this letter is to clarify the change in our interest since we
last wrote to you on 22 March.

At that time we advised you of a notifiable interest of 5.04%.  Additionally,
however at that time we had a further 4.87% holding on a non-material basis but
as our total holding did not amount to 10%, the non-material holding did not
need to be disclosed.

Our total shareholding now (material and non-material) amounts to 11.93% and is
all therefore notifiable.  The increase in our interest in the capital of your
Company is therefore from a figure of 9.91% to 11.93% and not from 5.04% to
11.93% as a review of correspondence would suggest.

Companies Act 1985 ('The Act') - Part VI


I hereby inform you that as at 19 June 2002 Barclays PLC, through the legal
entities listed on the attached schedule, has a notifiable interest in the
capital of your Company of 11.93%.



Details of this interest, together with a breakdown between registered holders
(as required by Section 202(3) of the Act), are enclosed.
